Paneer remains the most common type of cheese used in traditional South
Asian cuisines. The use of paneer is more common in Nepal, India,
Pakistan, and Bangladesh due to the prominence of milk in their cuisine.Paneer adaraki is a simple recipe loaded with the flavor of ginger
and is made with paneer (Indian cottage) cooked in thick onion-tomato
gravy.And it gives the very heavenly flavor of ginger. This dish is rich in its taste and flavors.
Paneer( cottage cheese) –250gm, cut into 1” cubes
Onion – 5medium sliced
Sugar-1/2 tsp
Tomatoes-3 choppedSugar-1/2 tsp
Ginger-1 inch piece
Garlic- 4
Green chillies-6
Kasuri methi-2 tbsp
Fresh cream-1/4 cup
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Coconut powder -2 tbsp
Cashew paste-2tbsp
Coriander leaves
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil -3 tbsp
Method:
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add onion, ginger and garlic flakes.Add sugar and saute on medium flame until onion turns brown.Remove off heat and let it cool.
- In another pan, heat remaining oil, add cumin seeds and saute for a minute.Add chopped tomatoes and saute until it turns soft and mushy.
- Blend browned onion along with green chillies into a smooth paste.Add this onion paste to the cooked tomatoes and mix well.
- Add turmeric powder, garam masala and salt .
- Now add coconut powder and cashew paste and little a cup of water.Cook this gravy for 5-6 minutes.
- Boil the paneer cubes in water for 2-3mins.Add the boiled paneer cubes to the gravy and cook for 2-3 mins.Add fresh cream and kasoori methi and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with chapati or any other Indian bread.
